Browser usage statistics
Browser usage can change depending upon your site's audience. For example, a highly technical web site will tend to over-represent browsers such as Firefox and Safari. A consumer-oriented site, however, would likely show majority usage of Internet Explorer.
When deciding which browsers to test your site on we'd suggest examining your own server logs first, to see how browser usage is distributed for your specific audience. Where that isn't possible (for example, a site which hasn't yet been launched), the figures below will help give you some guidance.
- Explorer: 54%
- Explorer 7: 27.0%
- Explorer 6: 26.5%
- Explorer 5: 0.5%
- Firefox: 41%
- Safari: 2.6%
- Opera: 1.7%
- Mozilla: 0.5%
